I immediately thought of the ingrown tongue and then The Germans hysteria..Always loved watching this on the PBS station when living in NYC.

It was beautifully crafted. And it was a rarity in that it was repeated a lot in the UK during the 70s and 80s, so it had an advantage in insinuating itself into the collective psyche.

For a long time the only shows we had from across the pond were Monty Python,Fawlty Towers and Tom Baker era Doctor Who..I also loved The Avengers and UFO..I didn't like The Saint though.

Agree Classic Comedy, if, at times, of it's time... But still funny.

"You started it.

" No we didn't. You invaded Poland!"

Tremendous!

Incidentally recently watched Porridge on BBC i-player.

Similar in many ways.

Still enjoyed it though.
