As a horse-crazy kid, I watched all of those vintage ones. I don't have any recommendations from the 21st century but I do recall enjoying the older series' FURY, and MY FRIEND FLICKA (the latter was a book, then a movie, and also a series).

I watched the whole series during lockdown.

Absolute classic then, and holds up pretty well now as a time capsule of how things were in the 70s.

Genius use of music as well. The upbeat, swaggering opening theme tune, and the slower, bleaker rendition over the closing credits.
